The Kentucky River lures visitors to get outside and sail through a series of historic and operational locks. Buffalo Trace claims to be the oldest continuously operated distillery in America, with its namesake, once home to mighty bison, the oldest whiskey distilleries in the world and one of the nation's most famous breweries.

Return to Louisville Rd. 60, westbound And you are in the heart of the city, just blocks from the Kentucky State Capitol. To get there, you must get off at the Salatos Wildlife Center and take Louisville Road south past the Capitol and downtown Frankfurt.

Both refer to the suburbs on both sides of the valley, and both are referred to as "suburbs" or "side valleys."
